New York, NY, USA
I am a New York City based filmmaker who has been making films since High School. I've made 14 films that range from Narrative to Documentary. Being Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian most of my films are stories with Latino characters. To me this is important because of the obvious lack of representation. This strengthens me as a story teller because I am able to express myself with the world and community I understand. I enjoy making very intense and high tension films. Growing up in the city, it always felt as if a ticking time bomb was following me because you never knew when someone would act out. Having this anxiety made me want to translate it to film. I want the audience to feel the tension that anything can happen in any minute while watching my films. My approach to filmmaking is very gorilla style. I love this approach because it keeps me sharp, since I always have to be aware of my surroundings. You can find me on the streets of New York filming or wherever I am able to sneak a camera in. I enjoy planning, but I also enjoy giving room for improvisation because I just love running around with a camera to find an interesting shot. I've taught film for two Summers at the Downtown Community Television Center, where I guided high schoolers to write and direct films. Teaching helped me become a stronger communicator and director due to the fact that you have to assistant and give all your attention to the students. DCTV is also the place that gave me a start into filmmaking back in in high school with there after school program. From there I was able to apply to Purchase College where I am a currently a Senior. more...
